A Typical Day at Bradley Bar

7:30am to 9:00am

Open Breakfast with a selection of cereals to provide the children with lots of energy for the day ahead!

9:00am to 9:30am

Indoor Play where the children have a whole host of interactive toys and books they can play with to their heart’s content.

9:30am to 11:00am

This time is used for ‘free flow play’ where the children have access to all areas of the nursery. They can play and explore both indoors and outdoors and access them freely whilst being supervised by staff.

11:00am to 11:30am

Circle time allows the children to share information from home, listen to and join in with story time as well as nursery rhymes. Older children will discuss the letter of the week and be involved with activities to develop their knowledge of phonics.

11:30am to 12:30pm

One of the most delicious parts of the day, Lunch time! At lunch time we encourage personal care and independence skills. All the children wash their hands before eating and hands and face after eating (younger children are supported appropriately).

During meal times older children are encouraged to serve themselves food and drink and help their younger friends.

Children eat in their key groups with their key person, this is an important time for social interaction. Everything your child eats and drinks at nursery is recorded for your information on the child’s daily record card which is sent home at the end of each day.

12:30pm to 2:00pm

Nap time/ Free time. Our younger children follow their own routine as discussed with you as a parent and sleep whenever they need to.

Older children have the opportunity to rest after lunch in a dedicated sleep room which is staffed at all times.

For those children not sleeping there is a combination of adult-led and child initiated indoor play. This might involve sand or water play, painting, small world play such as the knights and castles, pirates, cars, trains, toy town, farm, construction play and so much more…

2:00pm to 2:30pm

Milk time, every child receives their choice of drink, either milk or water.

2:30pm to 3:00pm

Outdoor play, the children can enjoy the outdoor space playing with a selection of equipment such as bikes, balancing toys, large construction, sand and water, den making and much more.

3:00pm to 4:00pm

Tea time, providing a lighter snack and another opportunity for the children to socialise and engage with their friends and key group.

4:00pm to 6:00pm

Indoor or outdoor play depending on the weather.

Daily Routine

Throughout the day the children are encouraged to tidy up and look after the toys and equipment. Their independence skills are encouraged from their very first day with us in terms of self-selection of toys and resources and areas of play. Their learning environment both indoors and out has been carefully designed to encourage learning and development in all seven areas of learning (EYFS) and regular room observations by the staff ensure that the quality of learning and development is maintained. Learning enhancements such as trips to the local community and visits from external visitors as well as organised classes such as a variety of sporting activities or a visit from Zoolab ensure a varied, interesting and all round experience for your child.

All children and staff are signed in as they arrive and then out at the end of their session when they leave. In addition, regular headcounts are taken throughout the day particularly after playing outdoors.
